    The first piece is by the very young Nnamdi choreographer Christopher Nwagwu. \u201cWhat they are is not what we see<\/i>\u201d is inspired by sociologist Charles Horton Cooley’s theory of the three selves: how we would like to be seen, how we see ourselves, how others see us.<\/p>\n

    Nwagwu focused on the intimacy of the subjects on stage and the discovery of themselves in relation to the group (understood as society) and how helpful or unhelpful self-discovery can be in \u201cadjusting\u201d to society.
