Professional School of Dance and Ballet

Parma is a safe and welcoming city with an ideal environment for young people to thrive. Its vibrant cultural scene, with the Regio Theater, seasons of drama, opera, concerts and dance, as well as the prestigious Conservatory of Music, represents a continuous stimulus for those embarking on an artistic path.

For students from other cities, we provide an internal guesthouse, offering a unique opportunity to find the right balance between academic and artistic training. Each student is supervised by a personal tutor, who supports him or her in the schooling process and intervenes promptly in case of difficulties, preventing obstacles that could undermine self-confidence.

The teaching staff is composed of masters highly qualified, from different Italian and international backgrounds. In addition to being active professionals in high-level productions, many of them are certified teachers, experts in teaching and artistic and personal growth of students. To complement the training, numerous personalities from the dance world periodically hold master classes and workshops at the school.

Artistic training and academic performance

The school accompanies growing boys and girls from age 11 to 19. Indeed, the commitment of Professione Danza is aimed at the artistic and personal training of its students, with special attention to those students with special aptitudes, with a view to a future start to a professional career.

Professione Danza is unique for many reasons. First of all, excellence in the technical and artistic preparation of pupils. Equally important is the attention and care towards each individual student: directors and all staff assist and support each one in achieving his or her goal.

The school performance is reported on a report card delivered in December and on two four-month evaluation forms presented to parents in individual interviews.

Intensive courses at internationally renowned schools

The management believes it is essential and educational to have the most deserving students to intensive courses at internationally renowned schools and prestigious competitions. Therefore, each year, numerous students join the The select few who gain access to schools such as.: Royal Ballet School, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at the ABT, School of American Ballet, John Cranko Schule, Hamburg Ballet, Joffrey Ballet School, Alvin Ailey School. The competitions to which they are eligible are, however: Grand Prix de Lausanne, Varna International Competition, Youth American Grand Prix, Concurso Internacional de Jóvenes estudiantes de Ballet – Cuba.

 

Numerous performances throughout the year

To complement the didactic courses, students are engaged in numerous performances throughout the year. In addition, the school produces an annual ballet from the classical repertoire involving all students from the first to the last course, and an evening dedicated to contemporary dance, in which the most advanced bring to the stage works by major contemporary choreographers.

Auditions for the academic year

Enrollment in Professione Danza is by audition only.

Professione Danza offers excellence in ballet instruction for students ages 11 to 19 and aims to train dancers with a rich knowledge of classical technique and the ability to adapt to all styles and techniques of dance. For this reason, the school offers a structured curriculum including: ballet technique, pointe, pas de deux, repertoire, character, modern, contemporary, men’s classes, Pilates.

Evidence for admission

The audition consists of a ballet class and a physical/aptitude assessment. The class is specially structured to assess a number of criteria, including: good proportions, flexibility, coordination, readiness for rotation en dehor of the legs, good musicality, and physical fitness for the requirements of the Professione Danza curriculum.

Selection of participants

All participants will be selected in a class with other candidates, the duration will be 1 ½ – 2 hours. The length of the audition is due to the school’s desire to be selective in the ‘admission of new students and in renew their enrollment each year.
