Claudio Calafiore graduated a quarter of a century ago from the Antonian Academy of Dramatic Art.
After three years of engagements in two of Italy’s major avant-garde theater companies (Koinè and Gaia Scienza) he entered the A-list theater circuit with Gabriele Lavia’s company.
He then works with some of the most important public and private stable theaters (Stabile di Torino, Stabile di Trieste, Eliseo di Roma, Pier Lombardo di Milano, stabile di Prato, stabile di Palermo, stabile di Catania, etc.).
By natural evolution, he opened his theatrical activity to the field of teaching (he founded a theater school in Syracuse and one in the Milan area; he collaborated as a teacher of acting, diction and phonetics with some Dramatic Art Academies: Milan, Venice, Cosenza; he took care of the evolution of both amateur and professional theater companies: T.G.T of Finale Emilia, IKREA of Florence, Accademia Perduta of Ravenna; to the field of dramaturgy (he is registered with the SIAE as a playwright and four of his plays have been performed with flattering success by the aforementioned companies); to the field of directing (he has more than 40 directors to his credit) and to the field of event creation (he is the creator of Finalestense, the Palio dell’ Appennino, etc.).
Among his latest activities, he participated last summer in the staging of Sophocles’ Oedipus directed by Gabriele Lavia at the Greek Theater in Syracuse;
He founded his own company a year and a half ago: the Ferrara Search Company of which he is the director and artistic director; he is the current artistic director of the Medieval Festivals of Palazzuolo sul Senio (Fi); and he is the theatrical consultant for the Noi Guelfi e Ghibellini events in Florence;
is the head of the theater-literary section of the Sestola Cultural Days.
He worked, in the role of Rolando Pienti, in the Channel 5 soap-opera: “Vivere.”
